4.03.2006if this was the best weekend of the sports year, then how come i didn't give a crap?
you know me.
i like sports. a lot. i probably care about sports way way way too much. well, all i've heard leading up to this past weekend was how this was the best weekend of the year for sports. presumably, this is because of the final four and baseball's opening night. now, theoretically, there might be some -- some -- merit to that. i mean, i can easily pick out a couple of other sports weekends which can easily be argued are much better than this one, but i was willing to concede that i could be wrong. however, after the events of this weekend, i am officially calling "bullshit." the two final four games were boring. george mason played with heart and tried their best, but florida was too much for them. and the other game, well, that was just pathetic. i mean, pa-thet-ic. it was never even close. it was one of the worst final four games i've ever seen. add to that last night's season opener for baseball, which i didn't watch. why didn't i watch it? because there was a deluge falling from the sky, which allowed me to watch an hour's worth of rob schneider at san francisco giants spring training, as well as about 47 trailers for that benchwarmers movie with him, david spade, and jon heder (which, i will admit, i plan on seeing). i mean, what the hell, man? that sports weekend blew. i thought it was overrated, but not THAT overrated! i've witnessed more riveting games of solitaire. if you watched those games, you wasted hours of your life which could've been spent playing mouse trap or punting frogs. although, i shouldn't complain, because the poor quality of sports allowed me to see two more people get eliminated from "the next food network star." actually, about the only good thing that happened in sports this weekend was on friday night, when my fantasy hockey team extended its points lead. of course, saturday and sunday blew, and the second and third place teams started to make their comebacks. now the top three teams are separated by 25 points. if you're really that interested, i've posted the scores on the sidebar. yay sports!
